On October 13, 2023, the Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Progamme (MCRP) rganized a Workshop in Can Tho on the "Formulation, Appraisal and Approval of Drainage and Wastewater Tariff Roadmaps”.The workshop was attended by representatives from the Construction Economic Department (Ministry of Construction), as well as officials from the Departments of Construction, Finance and Justice of Can Tho City, Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, Vinh Long, Bac Lieu, An Giang and Ca Mau provinces.

During the workshop, participants engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanged experiences regarding the formulation, appraisal, and approval of drainage and wastewater tariff roadmap. These discussions were extremely valuable, as they allowed provinces with approved tariff roadmaps to share their insights with those who were still encountering challenges in the process. Additionally, this event provided an opportunity for the Construction Economic Department (MOC), the agency responsible for Circular No.13/2018/TT-BXD, to clarify procedural methods in order to address the issues faced by provinces in the Mekong Delta.

Drainage and wastewater tariff roadmaps have been successfully implemented in various localities in Viet Nam in accordance with Decree No.80/2014/ND-BXD. In the Mekong Delta, MCRP has been playing an active role in assisting provinces with the formulation, appraisal and approval of their drainage and wastewater tariff roadmaps. To date, four provinces in the region, namely Soc Trang, Ca Mau, An Giang and Kien Giang, have had their respective roadmaps approved. In the upcoming time, MCRP is committed to providing further support to other cities and provinces, such as Can Tho, Hau Giang, Vinh Long, Bac Lieu and Tra Vinh, in order to help them overcome the obstacles and secure approval for their own roadmaps.
