TRAINING ON DEVELOPMENT OF URBAN FLOOD MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR MAJOR CITIES IN MEKONG DELTA



On 9 September and 1 & 7 October 2021, the “Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Programme (MCRP)” implemented by GIZ organised 3 online training sessions on the Development of Urban Flood Management Plan for major cities in adaptation to climate change in the Mekong Delta region in the period of 2021-2030”. Participants in the training were leaders, managers and technicians from the Department of Construction and relevant departments of 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.
 
At the training session, GIZ experts provided instructions on the objectives, scope, content, methods and procedures to prepare an Urban Flood Management Plan according to Decision No. 1055 /QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on July 20, 2020, on the promulgation of the National Plan in adaptation to climate change for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
 
So far, 80 government officials have been trained via these online training. The participants highly appreciated the practicality of the training session, raised their concerns in project planning and implementation in the localities, especially the issues in forming database or the criteria and process of selecting the local project consultant.
