TRAINING ON ASC INTERNAL AUDITOR FOR LOCAL AQUACULTURE OFFICERS IN CA MAU PROVINCE



On 06th – 09th December 2021, within the framework of the “Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Programme (MCRP)”, GIZ cooperated with Ca Mau Sub-Department of Fisheries/Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Intertek Viet Nam company to organise an Online Training for internal auditors on shrimp ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) standard for 34 officials (5 female, 29 male) from the Sub-Department of Fisheries, Agricultural Extension Center, the Commune Agriculture Sections and relevant Fisheries enterprises in Ca Mau.
 
The objective of the training course is to improve the knowledge and skills of internal auditing for local fisheries officers on shrimp farming practices applying ASC standards, to support local producers achieving shrimp ASC certification. The 4-day training course helped participants to improve their analysis and decision-making skills through deeper understanding legal issues, documentation procedures, traceability of input products, and environmental and social sustainability criteria of the ASC standard.
 
In 2022 - 2025, MCRP will coordinate and support local partners in the Mekong Delta to be proactive in development of qualified personell, contributes to promote sustainable shrimp production and consumption chains through the application of international standards. By 2025, there will be about 5,600 ha (1,400 households) applied mangrove-shrimp and 1,000 ha (500 households) applied rice-shrimp cooperatives achieving international certifications (ASC, Naturland, EU Organic, …).
