On 29th March 2022, the Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Programme (MCRP) in cooperation with Ca Mau Sub-Department of Fisheries and Can Tho University successfully organized 01 Training of trainers (TOT) on “Technical process on rice - shrimp farming toward organic certification” in Ca Mau city.
30 participants from Minh Phu Seafood Corporation, Sub-Department of Fisheries, Agriculture Extension Center, Thoi Binh district Agriculture Section, Commune People’s Committees and rice-shrimp cooperatives in the region are trained to become trainers to conduct training for local producers on the application of rice-shrimp farming model toward international organic certifications, increasing production efficiency, income and promoting the sustainable development of rice-shrimp farming model in the Mekong Delta.
As planned, in 2022 - 2023, MCRP will coordinate with local partners to organize 02 TOTs and 10 technical training for farmers (300 farmers/year). This is the first TOT in the series of training to improve technical capacity for local aquaculture officers and farmers. Trainees from the TOTs will conduct training for farmers in the future.
