On March 11, 2021, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed Decision No. 339/QD-TTg on Promulgation of Viet Nam Fisheries Development Strategy to 2030, vision to 2045. The strategy was developed and finalised with the active participation of related ministries, departments, research institutes, domestic and international businesses and organisations. Implemented by GIZ, the Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Programme (MCRP) have significantly contributed to the development and consultation of the Fisheries Development Strategy.
Viet Nam Fisheries Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045, is the premise for the construction, consolidation, and development of the fisheries sector toward international economic integration, high-value products and enhanced competitiveness which will boost employment opportunities and improve Viet Nam’s socio-economy towards climate-resilience and sustainability.
The Strategy identifies the target of the fisheries sector to 2030 with the value growth rate at 3.0-4.0%/year, the export turnover value at 14-16 billion USD, creating jobs for 3.5 million workers, thereby improving the population’s livelihoods.
