The SDMD 2022 “Science and Technology: Driving Force for innovation and sustainable development” was successfully held by the Can Tho University on 30/10/2022 in Can Tho city.
Speaking at the Forum, Mr. Christoph Klinnert, Programme Director of the Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Programme emphasized the importance and the needs of multi-stakeholder cooperation to respond to climate change in the region: “Climate change does not happen, start or end within one particular city or province. Therefore, it requires coordination in policy making at national level, regional, interprovincial, inter-sectoral coordination in implementation of legislation and projects/programmes to address climate change.”
Alongside with numerous cooperation activities at national, regional, and provincial partners to improve the institutional framework and policy for regional coordination towards a climate-resilient future of the Mekong Delta, GIZ/MCRP has been promoting the innovations and technology in climate-smart aquaculture; coastal and river-bank protection, sustainable urban development, plastic waste management in the Mekong provinces.
