My Tho City in Tien Giang province has been identified as a key city for the development into an integrated and specialized centre of the region (Decision Resolution No. 78/NQ-CP 2022). To prepare a proposal to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval in 2024, the workshop brough together over 80 participants from various relevant sectors including ministries and departments, provincial authorities, experts and businesses, to gather their consultations and recommendations on the development of an integrated and specialised urban center.

The development plan for My Tho City includes transforming it into an urban centre for high-tech logistic services for commercial agricultural products, ecotourism services, and a gateway urban area between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
