Vice Minister of Construction gave speech at the workshop

On 16 November 2023, as part of the Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Project (MCRP), co-financed by the Swiss Government and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ joined forces with the Department of Planning and Architecture (DPA)- Ministry of Construction (MoC)) to host a Consultation workshop on the draft Law on urban and rural master planning.

The workshop was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Tuong Van, Vice Minister of Construction, and drew the participation of over 100 representatives from various departments of MoC, the Committee of Economy of the National Assembly, professional associations and institutes and the departments of construction in 32 Southern provinces.

The objective of the workshop was to gather insights and feedback from stakeholders and legal experts to finalize the Draft Law on Urban and Rural Master Planning before submission to the Office of the Government.

The MCRP project has been actively supporting the DPA in the formulation of the Law on Urban and Rural Planning since 2022. Noteworthy contributions include nominating legal experts for the review and assessment of the 2009 Law on Urban Planning and related legal documents. Additionally, MCRP has contributed in reviewing and providing comments, opinions, recommendations, and leveraging international experiences. In 2023, MCRP collaborated with DPA to organise two regional workshops in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, to review the implementation of the legislations on urban and construction master planning and propose policies for the Law on Urban and Rural Master Planning.
